Tips to Boost Your CGPA

Many of us know how important it is to maintain good grades; not only does it look good on your resume, but it can help get you into the career of your dreams or earn you scholarships and other awards.

To help ensure that you get the grade you want, consider these helpful tips to boost your CGPA.

 

1) Create a study plan

If you want your grades to improve, it’s important that you take ownership of your education and create a plan for how you will study.

When looking at the semester, ask yourself what are the five things I need to do in order to get a good grade in this class? List them out and make sure they are realistic.

Then break down each item into more specific tasks so that you know exactly what needs to be done. For example, let’s say one of the items is: read two chapters.

In order to accomplish this task, identify when you can read those two chapters and how long it should take based on your reading speed.

2) Get rid of distractions

Eliminate distractions like social media, television, and video games. The less time you spend on these things the more time you’ll have for studying.

Forget about a 24-hour study cycle: Studies show that by cramming in last minute studying before a big exam will not work.

Instead try creating a study schedule that is sustainable over an extended period of time so that you don’t burn out quickly.

Don’t be afraid to take breaks! It’s important not only to stay physically healthy but also mentally healthy.

Don’t stress too much: Stress has been shown to be one of the top reasons for deteriorating academic performance.

Try taking some deep breaths or listening to relaxing music when you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed.

Work with friends: If you are struggling with assignments, working with friends can help because it’s easier to brainstorm together than alone.

3) Join a study group

Joining a study group is one of the best ways to increase your GPA. Not only will you have the chance to learn from your peers, but study groups can also provide accountability and help you stay on top of your work.

If you can’t find a study group at your school, try posting something on social media or joining an online forum! Make sure to be conscientious about studying:

4) Take practice exams

When you’re studying, it’s important not only to understand the material but also how to apply it.

5) Understand the material

Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help from teachers or tutors if you feel like there is too much material for you to handle.

 

6) Get enough sleep

A good night’s sleep is essential for a healthy mind and body. Not only will it help you stay alert during the day, but it’ll also keep your mind clear and organized so that you can better focus on your studies.

Some students find it helpful to develop a sleep routine, such as setting an alarm or going to bed at the same time every night.

 

7) Eat healthy

Don’t go for the junk food. Pack your lunch and bring healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, or a granola bar in order to stay on top of your diet.

Cut down on the alcohol and caffeine intake so that you can sleep more soundly at night. Exercise regularly by walking or biking during your lunch break instead of eating out with friends.

Go to bed early enough to get 8 hours of sleep each night. Check the syllabus before you attend lectures in case they change locations or cancel class due to weather conditions.

Lastly, create a study routine where you set aside time each day for reading and reviewing your notes as well as time for doing homework assignments.

8) Exercise

1. Know your priorities Decide what is most important to you and make sure it is reflected in your schedule.

This will help you know how much time you have for studying and how much time should be spent on other activities.

To maintain a good CGPA, it is important to manage your time. The key is being proactive and taking the initiative on what you need to do.

One of the most important things is to always be working ahead so that if something comes up during the week, you have time in reserve.

Another important thing is not biting off more than you can chew.
